Ron Smith, APR

Ron Smith, APRRon Smith, president of S&A Cherokee, the parent company that publishes Triangle East, has an extensive background in media, public relations and publishing. His career began in the newspaper industry, starting as a writer for several newspapers and later becoming city editor of a daily North Carolina newspaper. He later transitioned into public relations, where he held positions in several advertising and public relations firms. In 1982, Ron founded Smith & Associates Public Relations and later founded Cherokee Publishing Co. in 1990. Both companies later combined into S&A Cherokee. 

S&A Cherokee has established itself as a multidimensional communications company. Its range of services includes one of the Triangle’s oldest public relations firms representing local, regional and national accounts; nationally known B2B publications and conferences in the late model pre-owned automotive industry; custom publishing; local publications Triangle East and Cary Magazine among others; digital media services; and custom photography services.  Ron is an Accredited member of the Public Relations Society of America and received a lifetime achievement award from the Raleigh Public Relations Society. 

Ron and his wife have three adult children and are longtime residents of Garner, N.C. Ron is active in various civic and community organizations throughout Wake County.
