Pretty, Please

Fashion is pretty this spring season, says someone in the know: Arlene Goldstein, vice president of trend merchandising and fashion direction for Belk Inc. Fashion is also fun, she says, featuring feminine palettes and looks that adapt for any age and size.

Classics, florals, geometrics and exotics — spring collections here cover four major themes, from the classic Nouveau Coco to In the Garden, Walk the Line and Exotica. Take a stroll through these pages for looks you’ll love, then mix and match to suit your own sunny personality.

Models for Charity
Showing off our spring styles are models Michelle, Jennifer, Jessica and Puja of Models for Charity. An organization of professional men and women in the Triangle, Models For Charity help raise money for local charities by hosting or volunteering at area fundraisers such as the recent Me Fine Purse Gala and a fashion show benefiting WakeMed’s Children’s Hospital.

Spring Fashion Tips:

• Go natural — Leather, wood and skins are in!
• Jump in  — Jumpsuits are hot for spring! So are dots, white denim, flower jewelry and belts.
• Strike a balance — Beware too-timid or over-accessorizing.
• Top it off — Jackets take you from desk to dinner, workplace to weekend.
• Be yourself — Make the look your own; for example, wear flats instead of heels, if that’s what you prefer.
